Suicide bombing in Somalia kills 11 including local official

MOGADISHU, Somalia — Witnesses say at minimum 11 men and women are lifeless right after a suicide bomber blew himself up at the entrance to a governing administration setting up in southern Somalia.

District Commissioner Abdillahi Ali Waafow was amongst all those killed in Wednesday’s assault, the secretary-general of the Marka town administration in the Reduced Shabelle region, Mohamed Osmaan Yariisoow, instructed The Related Press by cell phone.

“Minutes soon after we had concluded a conference we experienced at the district headquarters and were being on our way out, we found an unknown person approached us and blew himself up,” Yariisoow explained, including that the commissioner’s bodyguards, conventional elders and gals also were killed.

The Somalia-centered extremist team al-Shabab claimed obligation for the assault.

Marka is about 100 kilometers south of Somalia’s money, Mogadishu.

Witness Hassan Abdullahi verified to the AP by cellular phone that 11 folks such as the district commissioner had been killed.

“I listened to a massive blast. I ran toward the explosion scene. I have found with my own eyes several bodies and stays of human flesh scattered on the ground,” he reported.
