Officials: 2 boys drowned in German lake were UK tourists

BERLIN — Authorities in western Germany explained Friday that two boys who drowned in a lake near the border with Belgium were being British vacationers.

The brothers, aged 7 and 9, were reported missing by their mom and dad at a designated swimming region on the Eiserbach lake south of Aachen.

Rescuers have been able to retrieve the little ones from the h2o and they have been taken to hospitals in Aachen and Cologne, but later died.
