Madagascar police fire on mob attacking station; 11 killed


ANTANANARIVO, Madagascar — At minimum 11 men and women were being killed in Madagascar when police opened fireplace on a mob demanding that officers flip about to them four suspects held for allegedly kidnapping a child with albinism and killing the mom.

A group of about 300 to 400 offended inhabitants gathered at the police station demanding the launch of the four suspects so the crowd could offer with them. Police refused and fired tear gas to disperse the group. When the mob saved advancing on the station, police opened hearth.

“The gendarmes experimented with everything to stay clear of a confrontation or violence. They established up a security perimeter all around the gendarmerie barracks and they advised the crowd that we could speak to avoid bloodshed,” Gen. Andry Rakotondrazaka, commander of the nationwide gendarmerie, mentioned later on Monday.
